Water-Related Activities at Callawassie Island
A private and secured 880-acre golf community, Callawassie Island, abounds with wildlife and is conveniently located between Beaufort and Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. Bordered by Chechessee Creek Colleton River and Okatie River, Callawassie Island offers numerous water-related activities.
With four community docks, residents and guests can enjoy boating, kayaking, or simply watching the river. The island is a gateway to the surrounding tidal marshes and constantly changing waterways. Through the River Club Dock, residents have access to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, and can easily reach deep-sea fishing areas.
The neighboring fresh water ponds, creeks and tidal rivers provide outstanding inshore fishing, and the community docks abound with shrimp and crabs ready to be caught. For those wishing to experience a more controlled environment, Callawassie Island Club has two swimming pools which can be used for both fitness and recreational swimming. The community’s certified fitness coordinator provides residents with swimming lessons for all swimming levels.
